Dear Friends,
When you receive this newsletter I will be in the Middle East in ministry and on my way to Pakistan. All of the world is watching the Islamic nations and people as the work of the Lord is opening the door to speak to this vast people group and reap a harvest before His soon return. It is time for them to have the opportunity to know about and to be touched by the power and the love of God.
I continue to be amazed to see how the Lord has made Islam the focus of the world. Surely He is wanting His church to pick up the burden for this people to have an opportunity to know Him.
This time is a kairos moment. The Greek word KAIROS speaks of a season, a specific time, with an emphasis upon that which the season gives opportunity to do. However, this does not imply the convenience of the season, but the NECESSITY of the task at hand. These are TIMES that the Lord has set aside for specific FOREORDAINED EVENTS TO TAKE PLACE OR NECESSARY PURPOSES TO BE ACCOMPLISHED.
This is a KAIROS MOMENT for the church in Muslim evangelism such as we have never seen. We must move quickly to reach this generation for Christ.
World Outreach has a history of being commissioned by the Lord in key moments, Kairos moments, in various parts of the world.
NORTH INDIA
In 1990 God began to prepare us to open NORTH INDIA for the great harvest we are now seeing in that nation. Initially we planned for a Crusade in Ranchi in 1991, however the Gulf War caused us to postpone the meeting until 1992. It was then that we discovered that India was having a national recognition for Yogananda, my spiritual leader before I knew Christ. It was the 100-year celebration, and Ranchi was one of his headquarters.
In this Kairos moment God sent us into the north where the largest gospel meeting had been only ten thousand people.
In preparation the Lord led my wife to gather a prayer group that met for prayer for this purpose for 30-40 hours per week. This prayer group continued for 4 years.
Ranchi is in the state of Bihar, India. Operation World called this state the graveyard of missions where less than 1% were Christian of any kind. There had never been a breakthrough in the history of this city. The CRUSADE ministry IS TO BRING A BREAK IN THE SPIRIT WORLD, to CHANGE THE ATMOSPHERE, and MAKE HARVEST AVAILABLE.
This graveyard would be turned around. I have a testimony against the guru spirit of Yogananda, kriya yoga, a spirit of violence and oppression, and against that which would call darkness light, pretending to be Christian or of Christ!
I have a testimony against that prince of darkness!
KAIROS speaks of a season, a specific time, with an emphasis upon that which the season gives opportunity to do. However, this does not imply the convenience of the season, but the NECESSITY of the task at hand, TIMES AT WHICH CERTAIN FOREORDAINED EVENTS ARE TO TAKE PLACE OR NECESSARY ACCOMPLISHMENTS NEED TO TAKE PLACE.
Satan does not fear when we try to reason with him, but he does fear when we proclaim the facts of Christ's victory IN OUR LIVES. This is the testimony, that Christ has built His victory in our lives, THIS IS A TESTIMONY AGAINST THE ENEMY.
In this meeting we took over 60 testimonies of congenital conditions that were healed. God truly poured out of His Spirit.
The newspapers carried daily headlines on the front page such as "Christ performing miracles through Dr. Houtsma". They gave testimonies of healings with names and addresses.
The crowd grew each night until in this Kairos moment the Crusade ended with over 250,000 people in the final service. A revival broke out that influenced the entire region with hundreds of churches being birthed and continuing for many years.
RUSSIA - SIBERIA
In 1992 Soviet Communism fell and doors began to open for the gospel to be preached throughout much of the former communist world. This was another Kairos moment. Once again God commissioned World Outreach to participate in the harvest in RUSSIA, sending us to Krasnoyarsk, Siberia.
We partnered with others to plant the church, have a Crusade, and build a Bible College. Today the mother church runs about 1500 in attendance and has planted churches in many other cities in the Siberian region. Some of these churches are doing the same.
There was great cost and much sacrifice involved to establish this work, but through our obedience in the Kairos moment a great harvest has been and continues to be reaped.
REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO
It was during this time as well that God commissioned us to embrace the REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO. This nation was coming out of Soviet Communism in which the Dictator in his 22-year reign had declared he would remove any vestige of Christianity in the nation.
As we obeyed God our Crusade was in cooperation with the 6 churches that had emerged from underground. The closing service had 185,000 in attendance and revival broke out for the nation. Ten years later the city of Brazzaville had over 600 revival churches, most running in the hundreds, some in the thousands.
We opened Christian Life International Bible College to train leadership and have the largest school in the nation. A great harvest has been reaped because of our obedience and sacrifice.
God has given us something special in the Congo. We have traveled and worked in many nations, but there is something special about the relationships the Lord has given us in this part of the world.
There is tremendous Unity and the relationships are strong. The Lord has given us to the Congo and the Congo to us.
The ministry of WORLD OUTREACH has RELEASED Unity, Reversal, Victory, Love, Healing from the war, Healing of sick bodies - a wonderful miracle flow, and developed Leaders through the Bible College that have successfully discipled and established the converts in this great revival.
GUJARAT, INDIA
It was after God opened north India that He commissioned World Outreach to evangelize the state of GUJARAT, the stronghold of the BJP movement that would establish a militant Hindu government for all of India for 10 years.
Our first meeting in this state was in 1993 in the city of Surat. God poured out of His Spirit and released His power among the leaders of the church.
Our next Crusade was held in the city of Baroda, and we were told the church had more than doubled since our last meeting. The revival had exploded out of the Crusade in Surat.
We continued our efforts in the state in the capital city of Ahmedabad, a city of about 4 million. The number of born again Christians in the city was less than 1000. Yet, God did an amazing thing in that He sent such a move that the closing crowd was huge. The police estimated the crowd to be over 700,000 people. This is the largest meeting ever in the history of north India.
We continued with meetings in Gujarat in several areas. It was reported that in the first 5 years of our efforts in this state that over 10 million people came to Christ in Gujarat and in the neighboring state of Maharashtra. Clearly this is a Kairos moment for India.
Ahmedabad, India
DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO
Another Kairos moment for World Outreach took place in July of 1998 in Kinshasa, Zaire. The Lord led us to hold a Leadership Conference in the city, and 2000 enrolled. The presence of the Lord was awesome. Services began at 8:00 AM and continued without a break for 10 hours each day. The time seemed like only a couple of hours. God visited powerfully. During this Conference David Houtsma had a prophecy about the coming war in this country.
It broke out less than a month later and the government questioned the church leadership about prior knowledge because of the prophecy. This war involved more countries in Africa than any other in history. Five million people died over the next 5 years.
During this time God sent World Outreach into this city again and again. During the Feast of Tabernacles Conferences God spoke prophetically about the war and political situation. This information was passed to the President and his advisors each year.
This included prophecies from Dr. Houtsma about the timing of the end of the war and from David Houtsma that it would involve a coalition government, something that had never taken place in Africa. This prophecy has now come to pass. It guided the President and his council to bring peace in what has been considered the largest war in African history. Certainly this was another Kairos moment for World Outreach.
REACHING ISLAM
Once again World Outreach is being given the opportunity to participate and contribute to the growth of the kingdom of God on the cutting edge.
On this trip I will be ministering in several Middle Eastern nations. This includes meetings with Arab Christians that have never had contact with foreign Christians. I also will be ministering in several expatriate churches.
PAKISTAN
This is a Kairos moment for the nation of Pakistan. The destiny of this nation is in the balance and being formed at this very moment. God is building an open door for the gospel in this strategic Islamic country.
We already have a beachhead in this nation. I will be ministering in Healing Services where the crowds will be in excess of 20,000 people.
I will also be in consultation with leadership about strategies for the nation of Pakistan and the building of another branch of Christian Life International Bible College for the training of Christians from Pakistan and surrounding Central Asian Republics for ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit to their Islamic nations.
Please join me in prayer as I make this journey. Some of the places I will go are not yet open for evangelism, yet God will work wonders among them.
