Dr. Roger Houtsma and World Outreach Ministries have been holding evangelistic healing meetings in the northwestern state of Gujarat, India for the past four years. Police have estimated crowds to be as high as 700,000 people in a single evening meeting.
Throughout India, Christianity has met opposition. Local governments have attempted to stop testimonies of miraculous healings from being demonstrated. World Outreach has met this opposition in many meetings because of the signs and wonders that follow Dr. Houtsma's ministry.
In March of 1997 Dr. Houtsma and World Outreach Ministries setup a huge, tent-like covering in the desert wilderness of Songadh, India. In these tents the glory of God abode.
Fourteen thousand leaders registered for the church Leadership Conference. As the church people heard of Dr. Houtsma holding this conference, they came from every part of the surrounding area with over 70,000 attending the first evening service. Throughout the week, World Outreach fed and housed more than 16,000 people.
The Lord's manifest presence was abiding in a marvelous way. The manifestations of the Spirit were seen in miraculous healings, deliverances, and intercession. There were also times where 2,000 or 3,000 people were slain in the Spirit spontaneously. One girl that was born completely blind was perfectly healed by the power of God.
Many government officials traveled several hours to come to this conference, including former members of Parliament, political partly leaders, mayors, and town councilmen, all of which testified of the goodness of the Lord in these meetings. On one of the nights, the Chief Commissioner of Surat, a nearby city, gave his testimony of how the Lord touched him and healed his back.
Dr. Roger Houtsma invited Rev. P.S. Rajamoni to join the team in this conference. P.S. Rajamoni is currently the Assistant Superintendent of the Assemblies of God for South India and the National Director for the Decade of Harvest.
For nearly 20 years, Pastor Rajamoni has ministered in leadership conferences and evangelistic ministry with Dr Houtsma. In 1978, Dr. Houtsma held a meeting in the city of Madurai, India, Rajamoni's hometown. At the end of one week of meetings, Dr. Houtsma turned the meeting to Rev. Rajamoni who continued the meeting for another month. From that time, Pastor Rajamoni has had a ministry of the supernatural and has been a father to many leaders in India. Rev. Rajamoni came with a message to his own people calling them into fullness for this last day's ministry.
Dr. Houtsma also invited his son, Rev. Nathan Houtsma, to speak at the Leadership Conference. Nathan has been involved with the ministry of World Outreach for most of his life, and has ministered in youth conferences throughout India, Central Africa and Argentina.
Following a dramatic encounter with the Holy Spirit in Argentina, Nathan's ministry was changed overnight. The power of God was manifested in his sessions and was seen as thousands fell under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Nathan is currently the senior pastor of King of Kings Church in Chico, California.
Sunday, the last day of the conference, was a special day. Many of the pastors and leaders at the conference brought their churches to this meeting. More than 140,000 people attended this corporate, Sunday morning church service without any advertising.
At the beginning of one of his sessions, Dr. Houtsma called for all students and young people under the age of 25 to come forward for prayer. He asked his son, Nathan Houtsma, to pray for them.
